Lake House Dining Table
Due to the stormy weather we are currently without power and telephones. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. If you need to contact us please email us at [email protected] and we will do our best to get back to you.
We have some self contained accommodation open now
Following the government's announcement regarding the roadmap to lifting the lockdown, we are delighted to announce that as some of our rooms are totally self contained with private entrances, we were able to reopen these rooms from Monday 12th April. Our services are slightly different to normal, but for those of you that would still like to get away we are adapting so that we can still provide everything that you need during your stay.
Our HRiSHi pop-up marquee (an open air restaurant as per government guidelines) has lots of heating so that it's funky, warm and fabulous, with a fully stocked bar, Champagne Afternoon Teas and Cream Teas*** during the day and daily changing HRiSHi tasting menus in the evenings. If you're staying with us, breakfast can be delivered to your room or served in the HRiSHi marquee, and in the evening if you prefer to eat in your room you can also enjoy a delicious Gilpin Spice take away.
***Subject to availability for residents. Please note afternoon teas are open to non residents from 17th May.
We will welcoming Gilpin vouchers once again from 21st June 2021.
WELCOME
One of our favourite things that our guests say is that when they think of Gilpin, they think of love and laughter – ours, and theirs, which is a really lovely compliment.
At the heart of Gilpin is a very passionate family and team, dedicated to creating lasting memories for our guests, who return time and again for romance, celebrations and escapes. For us, hospitality starts with a very warm welcome and ends with a friendly goodbye, with extraordinary service, exquisite décor and stunning culinary experiences in between.
We love Gilpin, and very much hope that you will too.
YOUR ROOM…
At Gilpin Hotel all 28 bedrooms have lovely Lakeland views, most leading directly onto the gardens – 6 Garden Suites have their own cedarwood hot tubs, 5 Spa Lodges have their own ensuite spa (rainmaker showers and steam rooms inside, hydrotherapy hot tubs and saunas outside) and 3 even bigger Spa Suites (each with a lounge and dining area, cocktail bar and wine fridge, huge circular stone bath, cedar wood double walk-in shower, spa room with steam room, sauna, infrared lounge bed, and a state-of-the-art automated massage chair, and a bedroom 'floating' over the pond with views to the mountains). If on the other hand you are staying at Gilpin Lake House (a mile away on a separate estate), you can choose from one of the 6 rooms that exclusively enjoy 100 acres of grounds.
YOUR TUMMY…
With a fascinating history as a centre of the spice trade, Cumbrian cuisine has a rich heritage, and local specialities have long included exotic spices with favourites such as Cumberland sausage, potted shrimps, Grasmere gingerbread, and of course, sticky toffee pudding. At Gilpin there are two restaurants celebrating this tradition.
At the Michelin starred HRiSHi, Hrishikesh Desai combines great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver unbelievable textures and flavours – modern British cuisine with a twist.
The laid-back Gilpin Spice has an open kitchen serving tapas-style pan-Asian dishes inspired by countries along the spice trail – spanning the Philippines, the Indian sub-continent, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and China.
Please note that due to government guidelines we are not currently open to non residents for dining. We will let you know as soon as we are!
FAO of our resident guests: Our restaurants currently have limited capacity, and do get full, so we strongly recommend booking your dining times with us prior to your arrival. Due to current social distancing rules we can accommodate all of our resident guests across HRiSHi and Gilpin Spice, but to achieve this we need to book both restaurants evenly every night, so we are asking our guests to dine in each of the two restaurants for every two nights staying with us.
MAGICAL ESCAPES…
Our guests visit us for many reasons, often milestones such as birthdays, minimoons, honeymoons, babymoons, anniversaries, celebrations, rest and recovery, romance, spending time with dear friends, and loved ones or simply to awaken the senses. We set the scene as beautifully as we can, so you can truly enjoy the time together without worry, and create priceless memories.
We've put together some very special packages with particularly good deals in the winter, for the ultimate in luxury in the beautiful Lake District.
ONE TEAM – TWO HOTELS
At Gilpin we have two hotels on two separate estates, but one team, so your time with us wherever you are should be seamless. Choose between a very chilled out hotel, Gilpin Hotel, or our hotel-come-country-house, Gilpin Lake House…
Set in 21 acres, Gilpin Hotel has 28 bedrooms, two restaurants (the Michelin starred HRiSHi and the casual pan Asian Gilpin Spice), a Champagne Bar, lounge, terraces, a croquet lawn – and our resident llamas and alpacas! The six Garden Suites have their own cedarwood hot tubs, five Spa Lodges have their own ensuite spa (rainmaker showers and steam rooms inside, hydrotherapy hot tubs and saunas outside) and three Spa Suites have private lounge and dining areas, huge circular stone baths, double walk-in showers, spa room with steam room, sauna, infrared lounge bed, and an automated massage chair, and a bedroom 'floating' over the pond with views to the mountains). Please note these are all in the grounds of the main hotel, not at the Lake House, so if you're wanting your own hot tub, the hotel is the place for you
Complimentary passes are available to all our guests for Choices Health Club in Troutbeck Bridge, where there is a gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room and indoor hot tub. Guests at Gilpin Hotel can also book treatments at Gilpin Lake House Jetty Spa.
Just a mile away from Gilpin Hotel you will find Gilpin Lake House, a sanctuary where just twelve guests enjoy 100 acres of private grounds, with its own lake, boat house, hot tubs, saunas, and swimming pool. The Lake House has the feel of a country house with all the services of a hotel.
Six individual rooms share a fully staffed boutique hotel with all meals served at the Lake House. Breakfast can be served to your room or to your table in the conservatory. Lunch and afternoon tea can be taken wherever you prefer, and in the evenings choose from Hrishikesh's daily changing tasting menu (or a reduced version for those who prefer not to have the full tasting menu) or room service from Gilpin Spice.
Please note that the spa facilities at the Lake House are only suitable for around 12 people, so we aren't able to open it to Gilpin Hotel guests; the Lake House is also frequently booked for exclusive use, which includes the spa facilities.
"LOTS OF LUXURY, ZERO PRETENTIOUSNESS"
Relaxed and unhurried, there are no weddings, conferences or children under seven to disturb the peace, just warm smiles, fresh flowers, and friendly, unpretentious service. The interiors are stylish, warm and comfortable; the individually designed bedrooms have crisp white linen, luxurious bathrooms and gorgeous fabrics, art and upholstery.
The spirit of Gilpin is motivated by love and laughter – our guests', and ours.
